Spirit Energy said it appointed Neil McCulloch as its technical and HSE director. McCulloch, who has held leadership roles across both operated and non-operated assets in Europe and further afield, joins Spirit Energy from EnQuest PLC where until recently he held the position of executive director and chief operating officer.
McCulloch succeeds Ken Robertson, who will join Spirit’s board.
McCulloch’s career – which started as a graduate trainee petroleum engineer working on Spirit Energy’s Morecambe Bay fields – has also included Senior Vice-President of Engineering and Production at OMV, as well as 11 years of asset and functional leadership roles at BG Group plc.
McCulloch, who is also a non-executive director at the Oil and Gas Innovation Centre, is a chartered engineer having studied both chemical and petroleum engineering.
He said: “It is an exciting time to be a part of Spirit Energy, as the business continues to develop and cement its position as one of Europe’s leading independent oil and gas operators.
“Now more than ever, the oil and gas industry needs agile players like Spirit investing in its future, and I am looking forward to joining the team and playing my part in the company’s growth and success.”
Chris Cox, chief executive of Spirit Energy, said: “I am delighted to welcome Neil to Spirit Energy – he brings a wealth of experience to the business, which will be vital as we look to safely maximise the potential of our existing assets and bring an exciting portfolio of exploration and development opportunities on stream.
