Samsung Engineering awarded petrochemical contract in Thailand

Samsung Engineering Co. has been awarded a US$790 million contract for Thailand's PTT Global Chemical Public Co. (PTTGC) petrochemical plant.


Samsung Engineering Co. has been awarded a US$790 million contract for Thailand's PTT Global Chemical Public Co. (PTTGC) petrochemical plant.

The deal is for a Olefins Reconfiguration Project (ORP). Samsung Engineering will execute on a EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning) lump-sum turnkey basis with CB&I Technology Inc. as licensor.

The plant will produce 500,000 MTPA of Ethylene through the major Naphtha Cracker Unit, and further will produce 250,000 MTPA of Propylene. The ORP plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

Sungan Choi, president of Samsung Engineering said: “We have successfully delivered numerous of projects to Thailand for more than 20 years. The award of the ‘PTTGC Olefins Reconfiguration Project’ is not only a result of our project execution capabilities and proven track record in Thailand, but furthermore shows the trust PTTGC has in us to deliver projects efficiently.”

The ORP project will be the 23rd project Samsung Engineering has done in Thailand.
