McDermott International announced it has reached 80 million man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI) in its Middle East Area.

McDermott International announced it has reached 80 million man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI) in its Middle East Area.

The achievement dates back to October 22nd 2013 and includes operations from McDermott’s Jebel Ali and Dammam fabrication yards as well as marine operations across vessels from their global fleet assigned to the Middle East. Since 2013 McDermott has fabricated and installed 75 jackets and 74 topsides. In addition to this they have laid 242 km of pipeline and 165 km of cables and umbilicals.

To mark the occasion, an “80” formation of employees was created in McDermott’s Jebel Ali fabrication yard.

Vice President and General Manager, Linh Austin, said during the event “Activity levels were at a record high in 2017 yet we have maintained our impeccable safety record. This achievement is reflective of our deep-rooted culture of which safety is truly at the core.”

In 2016 McDermott implemented their award winning QHSES program ‘Taking the Lead’ which embeds excellence in all aspects of safety. The program enables and empowers employees to proactively drive continual improvement and promotes a “safety-first” culture across all disciplines. McDermott is an industry leader in safety performance and the company-wide adoption of the ‘Taking the Lead’ program can in part be attributed to reaching the 80 million man-hour record.
