Russia's Lukoil has started up operations at its gas processing plant at its Kandym gas field in Uzbekistan ahead of schedule.
The Kandym Gas Processing Complex was constructed under the Production Sharing Agreement with Uzbekistan and covers the Kandym group of fields, Khauzak-Shady and Kungrad areas.
The gas processing plant was completed two years after construction began and eight months ahead of the schedule.
The new complex has an annual capacity of eight billion cubic meters of gas and will convert gas from the Kandym fields cluster to become marketable gas, stable gas condensate, and marketable sulphur. There are 77 wells drilled and a gas gathering facility established at the Kandym field cluster
President of PJSC Lukoil Vagit Alekperov said: "The Kandym Gas Processing Complex is a unique project where the most challenging technical ideas and the world's cutting-edge technologies were applied. The project was completed in the shortest possible timeframe and on budget."
Russia's President Putin added in a welcome message: "The new Gas Processing Complex will become one of the largest in Central Asia."
