Cheniere Energy said it signed a 15-year LNG supply agreement of about 1 million tonnes annually with commodities trader Trafigura.
Delivery to Swiss trader Trafigura will start in 2019, the Houston-based energy company said in a statement.
The sales-purchase agreement with Cheriere Marketing states the purchase price for LNG is indexed to the monthly Henry Hub price, in addition to a fee.
"We expect this SPA to help support Cheniere's expansion plans, and we look forward to a successful long-term relationship with Trafigura as a customer," said Jack Fusco, president and CEO of Cheniere.
In addition to the four operating 0.7-billion cubic feet per day (bcfd), or 4.5-mtpa, liquefaction trains at its Sabine Pass facility in Louisiana, Cheniere has three 0.7-bcfd units under construction at its Corpus Christie export facility in Texas and Sabine Pass.
In addition, the company has other units that are fully permitted at Corpus Christie and Sabine Pass that it plans to build once it gets enough financial commitments.
